Open Thread:

Hello everyone!!!! Again, ugh, long time no see. I've been literally off the blogging circuit for quite a while now. Anyway, to get the momentum rolling again, I present an Open Thread, that will kick off the new Oscar Season.

Obviously, the topic is, who do you think will win? Are you rooting for anyone right now? Any particular films out now that you think are interesting?

I have no predictions and out of potential contenders I have only seen Drive so far. Due to the fact Gosling and Albert Brooks could be nominated I will just say that I liked Bryan Cranston in it, since he definitely will not be nominated.

Well, I have seen The Help. That was really great, both Viola and Octavia deserve to be nominated and win (Viola is fantastic!). If great Glenn is nominated, I'll root for her, of course, she has to win. Otherwise, I don't know. :) I want Melissa McCarthy to be nominated for Bridesmaids, she kicks ass!

Louis: I didn't see The Drive. It looked trashy to me. Why won't Craston be nominated though?

Dinasztie: I did too! Davis was great, but i didn't love her as much though. I'll rematch it soon. Octavia is good, but not Oscar worthy for me.

It would be really exciting to see Glenn win, given it's been 20-30 years since her golden streak in the 80'S.

Haven't seen The Bridesmaids, though my family did, and they loved it! Is Melissa McCarthy the lead?

Cranston won't be nominated because Albert Brooks will be overwhelmingly the person recognized for the film, if anyone is.

Melissa is very much supporting. Kristen Wiig is the absolute lead.

I've seen a good amount of potential 'contenders' and nothing has really jumped out to me as a Best Picture winner, though I haven't seen a lot of the presumed frontrunners (The Descendants and The Artist).

I really enjoyed The Help, and Davis and Spencer were good but I LOVED Jessica Chastain's performance in that film. Drive was great, but it's not getting anything but Supporting Actor (sadly). Bridesmaids is my favorite movie of the year so far, and I do think Melissa McCarthy has a chance at supporting. (Her Emmy win was RIDICULOUS though). J. Edgar isn't as bad as everyone seems to be saying it is.
